STORY
I was born in Santiago, Chile, and led a typical city life. Although I was more into art, I studied graphic design. At one point, I felt overwhelmed by the system in which I was immersed; I no longer identified myself with that lifestyle. For that reason, and on the recommendation of a friend, I emigrated to the south of Chile.
There I did my internship in graphic design and, at the same time, I started working in a bar. It was then when I felt a connection with liquid mixtures, those of drinks, and it was there, at Machi bar kitchen, where I met “Granny Ñaña”, an older woman from the Mapuche family. I was invited to her house and introduced to her community. Soon I began to interact with country folk, people who were just passing through. All of them had something in common: they were at one with the land and their ancestors. This led me to share their traditions, customs and stories to such an extent that I began to connect myself feeling part of nature. That place was my home for three years, and it was there where I learned the most:
- 1 year of observing
- 1 year of learning
- 1 year of sharing
As my connection to the earth began to grow, “Granny Ñaña” saw that I had some untapped potential; soon I realised that my thing was mixing flavours, liquids, and eventually transmitting emotions, and such ancestral knowledge of medicine that has been handed down by word of mouth.
At first, I was self-taught and, but as soon as I could I started to read and study in a more formal framework. On this ever learning path, I delved into spagyrics, herbalism, botany, alchemy, phytotherapy, molecular mixology, bar botany, and the like.
I felt motivated to find new ways of sharing and healing through plants but, above all, to draw on ancestral medicine so that I could spread the word about it.
I currently live in Barcelona. I work with a great team, and offer my apothecary products, an itinerant bar and workshops. The next step is the Ancestral Botanical Bar, a project that has been growing in my mind for a number of years, a diverse space to
